Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What are aankoopkeuring and expertise pré-achat?
They are Dutch and French terms used for a pre-purchase inspection or expert assessment. The written scope must still define haul-out, systems, sea trial, material testing, report language and limitations.
What details are needed for a Belgian yacht survey quote?
Provide the exact marina or yard, vessel type, construction, dimensions, purpose and date. State whether lift, wash, trial, steel thickness or another specialist test can be arranged.
Can inland steel craft be surveyed?
Potentially. Steel-hull ultrasound, gas, electrical, mooring and inland-waterway requirements are specialist matters and should be identified separately from a general condition survey.
Can the report be in Dutch, French or English?
Include the required language in the request. Agree terminology, intended recipient, reliance and delivery deadline with the appointed surveyor.
Is a yacht survey the same as an official pleasure-craft inspection?
No. A private purchase or condition survey is separate from any formal certification, notified-body or authority requirement. Confirm the exact accepting organisation and appointment route first.
Who appoints the surveyor?
The client appoints the independent surveyor directly and agrees scope, fee, limitations and terms. Belgium Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.
